Hello there, everybody!
How are you doing? While I can complain a lot about my TESL 426 class (as you know I did for the Storybook assignment for example), I can also say that this class has given me so much knowledge about websites to use, and here is one of them.
The website is called Quebec Reading Connection, and it came highly recommended by my professor.
I signed up and logged in just now, and I must say I guess I understand why she would recommend it. This website is a little bit like Goodreads, in the way that it lets you catalogue books that you’ve been interested in using or that you’ve used. However, they are also catalogues of educational books and they also give you:
- levels of reading,
- the grade level,
- the reading comprehension questions you can ask your students,
- Broad Areas of learning the reading can be connected with,
- Cross-Curricular Competencies that can be used by reading the reading (haha).
- These last two are very important, for teachers who are in Quebec, because we are teaching around these elements of the curriculum as well.
While you may not be able to access any of the books, it’s nice because it can be yet another resource you can use to get a diverse number of books that can fit different reader needs and different reader levels. You can use this as a resource to know which books you would like your school or your school board to order for the next year. Parents can even log in and check this website out!
I hope this was somewhat helpful!
See you again next time!
