TESL 330: Edmodo

January 27th, 2020

Hello there, everybody!
I hope you’re doing well and that school’s not being too difficult! That’s right, you guessed it by the title of it…! This is yet another “website” post which could help you out during your career or just during your TESL 330 class if you need to WOW your teacher about some website you’ve discovered!

If you are looking for something that might be a little bit more affordable than Moodle, Edmodo might be a good idea. One of my students’ teachers actually used this primarily to share documents and contents to her students.

This can be used, I think, in the same way that Google Classroom is used nowadays. It can be used for online learning, or even as an online agenda, the way my student’s teacher did. Whatever subject the teacher is teaching, it is a great way to share and organize content in a reachable way for students.

There are embedded activities that teachers can use with their students from online.

From scavenger hunts to quizzes, there are plenty of content that teachers can use to make the content relatable for their students.

It is presented as a social media kind of platform for sharing. Students can interact with each other as well as with their teacher. Parents can even be notified of homework and other news if the teachers choose to send some.

I hope you are having a fun and nice return to school,
PV
