ESL Blogs

November 6th, 2020

Hello there, everybody!
How are you doing? I attended a SPEAQ Annual Convention today, and I found so many resources that I thought I would share with all of you. I will be interspacing some of these posts with my previously scheduled posts, so as to not flood the blog with posts.

What is it? What does it offer me?

ESL BlogsThe first website I want to direct you to would be the ESL blogs. It is essentially a blog that give access to a lot of things for ESL teachers, from Intensive teaching to all other levels.

They have archives of short videos that you can watch about training. They even offer links to cross-curricular activities and thematic activities sent through monthly newsletters, and more! There are even book recommendations in some of these newsletters. They are gold mines of information, really!

While you can ask to receive the monthly newsletters in your email inbox, I think it’s awesome that the newsletter is also available just on the website. That way, you don’t lose anything by not subscribing to the newsletter.

In particular I want to invite you to check out intensive-esl.quebec. This one, you will need to subscribe to it, with a username and a password. It has a LOT of online resources or just resources in general. Their search tool is very nice and you can look for a lot of resources on there. You can even contribute some tools on your own, and you save a few of these tools. Really, a gem!

When clicking on any resources, you will be seeing a summary of what the resource is, a curriculum (so what it can be used for, what BAL (broad areas of learning), what cross-curricular competency are related, etc.), a use (what you can use it for) and of course, a source.

Who are they?

persons8You can find out more about them on this particular page or even on this page, but basically, they are a duo of two pedagogical consultants: Elizabeth Alloul, and Carolyn Buteau.

Incidentally, they are also the ones who presented this blog to us during SPEAQ. They made it very interactive throughout, so I expect that this kind of energy is going to be shown throughout the website and their videos.

Honestly, I am very impressed with what they have put together, and I wish them the best, I look forward to getting an account on intensive-esl.quebec as well!!

Happy exploring, everybody!
