February 1st, 2024,
Hey there, everyody!
How’s it going? “PV, it’s 2025 and you’re still posting these kinds of anecdotes? Are you not tired of this?” Actually, even though it’s happened less and less that I cry before going back to school on Sundays, I actually started that routine again right after coming back from the Winter Break. It’s horrendous how old (BAD) habits are very difficult to vanquish… Let’s get on with it, shall we?
My coworker was talking to some students and one of them was raving about my classes.
Some context:
My coworker is an amazing mom and her kid goes to our school. She saw that one of the buses was super late and decided to give the kids her child was hanging out with a lift back. On the way, she was casually talking with them about classes, but one of my students (one of my favourites this year. What, I’m not supposed to have favourites? Just don’t tell them) told her about how English classes are so fun, because Miss PV makes them use their computers, because they play games, etc.
When my coworker told me, I felt very bad at the beginning, because it might mean I’m a bad teacher if I only play games with them (which is wrong, by the way, I also make them watch movies and write character analysis, even though they’re in Second Language Learning, I know, right? What a bad and severe teacher I am), but she reassured me by asking me to assure to her that I would come back next year, in the same position, teaching the same grade, so that her child would have me as a teacher also.
I am very stressed (by the way, click on the image to find the origin of the post, I can’t write in the captions anymore, for some reason… WordPress really hates the CLASSIC mode nowadays…) because that is a lot of pressure, but at the same time, I sort of get it? Not all the teachers know how to use a computer, and teaching students who have to use the computer every day? That is pretty difficult too…
Anyways, typing it down and scheduling it for in a year will remind me that I am a competent teacher, maybe… it has certainly helped me calm down, at the very least!
I’ll look forward to next year, let’s hope I can make a decent job…
What about you? Was there anything positive that happened in your day? However small, it can be pretty good to write it down!
