Hello there everybody,
I hope this post finds you all well and not completely depressed about how it’s the end of the first half of the year (before winter break) and almost halfway into the second semester (Étape 2). Hang in there, a few more days to go!

Yep, the time-stamp is not wrong, I am writing this from January 8th of the next “calendar year,” rather than on the day of, but I was flipping through my agenda, and I realized that I forgot that I had done this very positive thing:

Today, I actually for the first time ever: finished my IEPs.

Some context:

IEPs are Individual Education Plans to equalize the learning field for certain students. They might have some learning issues, they might have attention deficit(?), etc. And it’s not fair for them, so we help them out in various ways within the IEPs.

Prior to this year, I’ve always managed to complete my IEPs in May? Because I never had the time to do them and honestly, they’re a tedious process to go through in the system. My directors have always understood, I think, mostly because the other teachers also either finished them too early or waited, like me, until the last minute to do them. To be fair: the directors always told us to rewrite the goals, make them SMART, etc. And it was long and my perfectionist self would not allow me to send those out without knowing for sure that they were OK.

This year, my director gave us a deadline: to be able to finish before December 20th, to give her time to read over them when she could and approve of them so we could send them out to be signed by the parents. She also gave us an unexpected gift: to ability to simply review the plans rather than create new goals that are differently worded.

Guess what? I sat down, reviewed the plans given what my students had told me they needed, and from the notes I had taken from my parent-teacher conferences, and TA-DAH! I have finished today, December 16th, and sent them to my director. WH00T WH00T! Now, I really hope that she won’t tell me there’s a TON OF THINGS to correct… hopefully… *crossing my fingers*.

All right,
That’s it! Have a nice holiday time, enjoy!
Miss VP
