HAPPY NEW YEAR, everybody,
It’s been quite a while since I wrote anything here, and I’m a bit stressed that I don’t see much of anything on my scheduled posts list. I’ve been quite busy, and I’m looking forward to… maybe the summer(?) to replenish my scheduled posts list? Hopefully.
I managed to survive the first day of the students being back from the winter break!
Some context
In the last week of December, before the winter break, I told my students that they were watching and taking notes about the movie so that they can start a written production when they come back in January.
As I finished my corrections in early December, I did not have anything to do, at least lesson-planning-wise, I barely touched my work computer all two weeks of vacation. The weekend right before coming back on January 6th, I’ll admit that I was crying. I was sad, I was unsure of myself once again. I couldn’t see myself in front of the classroom once again… etc., etc.
On January 6th, when we arrived for the PED day, I made myself sit down and take a look at the lesson-planning from December. I tweaked it a little bit and today, I put it to good use.
My goodness, I expected it. The students were so blasé about coming back. The majority of them did not want to share what they did during the holidays. At least, they did not want to tell me in front of the class, but telling me before class started was fine. That was good, I planned for that: so we did some team brainstorming and I set them up to work. They started their writing and it went really well? I feel sorry that they have to start writing already, but at least it’s sort of fun: they’re comparing characters from a TV show and from a movie. That shouldn’t be too bad, right?
Anyways, I survived! I’m glad I didn’t call in sick, it would have made coming back to work that much more difficult… Hang in there, Future PV.
Well, I hope so…
See you next time,
Ms. PV
